Summer body conditioning

That time of the year has come when my dance season is over and I try (the key word here is TRY) to organise an exercise programme to keep my fitness up during the summer. This year I’m going to attempt to do a combination of floor barre (I’m recording a video series on floor barre exercises at the moment) and a 90-day programme from the app StretchIt.

I found this app a couple of years ago, and I must say I’m quite impressed with its contents. It includes a series of yoga-based exercise “sessions” of varying lengths and targeting different areas, and it not only offers a combination of dynamic and static stretching, but also some strengthening exercises.

You can subscribe to different packages (unfortunately it’s not free) and you can also join some of their programmes, which automatically schedule classes from two or more packages for you. Most of their programmes go on for 30 days, you can check all of them and more on their website:

However, I have chosen their only 90-day programme, the “Platinum Flexibility Course”, because it includes exercises for the full body. You can find a few screenshots from the app below:

After the first session (which I did a couple of days ago), you are supposed to take pictures to be able to track your progress by taking more pictures in the same positions at the end of each of the three months. For my level (beginners, I find the intermediate level is way too advanced for my poor 30-year-old back), they suggest taking pictures in a cobra pose, splits with both legs and middle splits. Here are mine (please note that I haven’t stretched properly in months, so I expect some noticeable improvement in the next week or so):

I hope I can keep up with the body conditioning this year and will not loose all my fitness! I will post updates every month or so. Wish me luck!
